Day Dreamer

I enjoy using a very traditional and ancient art form called bas-relief in new and fanciful ways.  My current focus is to reintroduce the bas relief to the present day viewer.  Its subject matter would be the ordinary moments of ordinary people. By capturing the typical in bas relief, an art form usually  concerned with royalty or gods, I will elevate the mundane into something sublime and precious, which it truly is. 

In my piece, Daydreamer, a young man lays on his couch with his wireless headphones on.   He is not portrayed as a prince or anyone of importance.  A touch of the fantastical is added as his pillows transform into rolling hill as he daydreams.
